The Development Coordinator, President’s Society (DCPS) is responsible for enhancing AMC’s donor relations and stewardship, primarily for AMC’s President’s Society, through donor events and communications. President’s Society members make gifts of $1,000 or more to the Annual Fund and have an outsized impact on the organization’s fiscal health and mission impact. In 2023, the 1,100 members of the President’s Society contributed nearly $4 million to support the work of AMC. This position is responsible for organizing and executing events and engagement activities sponsored by the development department. The ultimate goal is to craft impactful donor experiences that not only retain but also deepen donors’ relationships with AMC.

The ideal candidate for the role of DCPS will excel in project coordination and have strong writing and organizational skills. They will demonstrate finesse in interacting with a variety of constituents, possess valuable experience in event planning, and exhibit an ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects concurrently, each at different stages in their respective timelines. Additionally, the DCPS should be enthusiastic about outdoor recreation and eager to share that passion with AMC constituencies.

Reporting to the Assistant Director, President’s Society, this full-time, year-round, salaried position is based at AMC’s Boston headquarters, with an option for a flexible hybrid schedule that balances in-office time with working from home.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING AT AMC

Donor Events

Serve as project coordinator for all development-driven events, including being the primary responder to all event inquiries by phone and email. Manage all event communications, including invitations, reminders, and post-event follow-up. Personally communicate with participants in a professional and prompt manner. Create and manage event registration forms and pages, track and respond to RSVPs, and ensure related data entry. Complete administrative tasks including nametag creation, tracking of RSVPs, and ordering event supplies. Assist with staff preparation for events, including briefings, logistics and day-of execution, follow-up with participants, collection of contact notes, cataloging of next steps, and record-keeping. Oversee all aspects of risk management protocols and code of conduct for AMC’s development events. This includes ensuring that all relevant staff are properly trained and certified to guide outdoor adventures. Create and update tools to support efficient and accurate oversight of the events program. Research and implement event management systems to improve processes and planning. Research new venues and vendors as requested. Maintain the department’s record of events, meeting invitations, and donor participation in the database.

President’s Society Stewardship

Execute the promotion and fulfillment of President’s Society benefits. Coordinate welcome packets for new President’s Society members. Communicate with President’s Society monthly donors to maintain active memberships, conducting personal follow-up to ensure updated information is captured and gift summaries are sent annually Set up digital communications for the Assistant Director, including monthly email newsletters, e-appeals, and special updates, using Marketing Cloud. Proof-read and edit copy for donor outreach. Assist with content and creation of event promotions and printed donor newsletters.

Gift Acknowledgement

Manage timely and accurate receipting and acknowledgments for all President's Society gifts. Ensure accuracy in transactions and records for President’s Society members within Salesforce. Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

WHAT AMC IS LOOKING FOR

Excellent organization and time-management skills; demonstrated success in managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive demeanor; comfortable and appropriate as a liaison to colleagues, donors, vendors, and hosts; customer service oriented. Passion for the outdoors and eagerness to share that enthusiasm with AMC donors and members. Willingness to be trained in outdoor leadership skills. Critical thinker and eager problem solver. Strong computer skills and willingness to learn more; expertise in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with online marketing tools and channels preferred (AMC uses Marketing Cloud). Must be receptive to supervision and professional development. Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, plus at least one year of administrative, event planning, fundraising, donor relations, or equivalent experience; or an Associate’s degree and two to three years of experience. Demonstrated success in coordinating and planning stewardship and cultivation events. Excellent writing, proofreading, and copy-editing skills. Strong oral communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality, especially relating to donor information. This position requires coordination and possible participation in 6-8 overnight trips annually, often to backcountry locations requiring the ability to ski, snowshoe, or hike comfortably up to 7 miles in difficult terrain in all weather conditions, carrying loads of up to 20 pounds. Valid driver’s license.

WHAT AMC CAN OFFER YOU

Salary range: $46,000 - $62,000 / year

We are committed to equitable compensation practices, and we encourage qualified candidates to apply. The initial salary represents our starting point, and our compensation philosophy is designed to reward and recognize the contributions of our employees as they grow within the organization. External candidates typically begin their journey with us at the starting point of the salary range. The final compensation offer will be based on factors such as experience, education, skills and geographic differential relevant to the position, and will be discussed during the interview process.
