Position Overview
Youth Villages seeks a motivated individual to expand on the organization's donor engagement and volunteer programs and help manage development external communications projects. The Development Coordinator is a full-time position reporting to the Development Manager in New England. The position is an integral part of the New England development office and is responsible for maintaining a robust volunteer program that will engage supporters in Youth Villages’ mission and support the development goals of the New England office. This position will coordinate all volunteer activities, cultivate and engage corporate partners, community organizations and individuals through volunteerism. This person will manage our annual in-kind drives (Holiday Heroes and our School Supply Drive) and Youth Villages YVLifeSet mentoring initiatives. In addition, the position will help coordinate the YV Massachusetts and New Hampshire social media accounts, marketing content and communications projects.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Manage the corporate donor strategy that will increase corporate engagement at Youth Villages
Recruit, train and manage local volunteers
Maintain all volunteer records in Salesforce.
Coordinate all aspects of our Holiday Heroes and Backpack Heroes in-kind drives and item distribution.
Responsible for hitting the fundraising goals associated with initiatives – carry a portfolio of corporate partners and individuals.
Establish and build relationships with key individual, corporate, community contacts interested in volunteering or supporting our in-kind drives.
Identify new ways to engage corporate partners and expand on current initiatives including hygiene kits drive and thanksgiving baskets
Manage staff volunteer opportunities at all Youth Villages events and support development manager on event success
Ensure compliance with mandated policies and maintaining volunteer training/paperwork compliance - annually review, update and train staff on these policies.
Act as a liaison between the program staff and the development staff
Manage the YV Massachusetts and New Hampshire social media accounts Help to create marketing content and assist in establishing and executing communications plans across teams within Youth Villages
Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree is required. Minimum of 1 year of experience in communications and/or a degree in communications is preferred. Instagram Business account experience preferred. A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in a human services non-profit organization with demonstrated success in motivating and engaging individuals in volunteer projects and events is preferred. Excellent oral and written communication, time management and project management skills. Experience managing communications projects and deadlines. Excellent technological skills, proficiency in Excel and Salesforce or similar donor database preferred. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and networking skills with large groups as well as with board members, donors, volunteers and staff. Ability to evaluate volunteer strengths. Strong customer service skills are required and must demonstrate an ability to motivate others and ensuring every volunteer has a positive and meaningful experience. Must be a self-starter, creative and resourceful in finding creative solutions to recruiting, connecting, and retaining volunteers. Strong belief in the mission and goals of Youth Villages and the willingness to advocate for the organization in the community. Must have a car. Ability to work occasional nights and weekends.
